Hello! I'm Amelia, or makermage. I discovered cosplay as a hobby in 2016 and since then, I have worked on improving my skills in sewing, foam work, makeup, and modeling. I love fantasy worlds in books, games, and visual media and I enjoy the challenge of recreating their costume designs in real life. Usually, I focus on strong female characters with detailed and historically-inspired costumes.

Although I have history-related degrees and a longstanding amateur interest in historical costuming, I have no professional qualifications related to costume design, dress history, or fabrication. I am self-taught and work in a different field. I learned most of what I know from free resources on the Internet created by other costumers. I finally feel like I have enough experience and a significant enough portfolio that I, too, can contribute something and pass on some of the joy and knowledge that were given to me.

Over the years, I created various detailed progress logs on Instagram highlights, so please check those out if you are interested. However, my goal is that eventually this blog will become a more permanent, searchable, and accessible archive for all of my work.
